Are you an Oracle DBA Manger at the level to assist a IT Operations Director in the delivery of database strategy? Do you have the skills to support the DBA team in the delivery of service?

The DBA Manager is a senior role within the IT Operations team which means you report directly to the IT Operations Director.

Your main part of the role will be to provide support for various versions of Oracle Databases, Data Guard, RMAN and RAC (Real Application Cluster) implementations.

Essential skills:

  • Ability to manage customer expectations and SLA's and prioritise conflicting requirements
  • Ability to keep up to date with technology trends and to understand key technical drivers in the industry
  • Drive performance in technical and operational groups through the development of process, policy, procedure and guidelines
  • Build and develop a highly competent team of technical staff with a service orientation
  • Database System knowledge gained in a professional services/project organisation and/or technical environment
  • Proven experience of the following technologies:
    • Oracle
    • Redshift
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of database tuning: software configuration, memory usage, data access, data manipulation, SQL, and physical storage
  • Knowledge of IT Security fundamentals
  • Experience of planning and implementing systems and network integrations
  • Remote diagnostics and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity of data centre and cloud environments

Desirable:

  • A thorough understanding of Service Management disciplines, ideally using the ITIL framework
  • Ability to develop mutual beneficial relationships with customers and vendors which results in a shared understanding of needs and objectives
  • Ability to resolve conflict through negotiation and relationship building rather than formal authority structures
  • Ability to solve complex and ambiguous problems anticipating dependencies and interrelationships. Highly developed problem solving skills to resolve service problems and incidents using staff resources and service provider capabilities
  • Proven experience of the following technologies:
    • Microsoft SQL
    • MySQL
    • Casandra
    • Postgres
  • Experience of working alongside application development teams, supporting and advising on best practice to maintain performance and availability
  • Certifications in one or more of the following areas would be a significant advantage
    • Oracle Certified Professional or above
  • Familiarity with Service Desk Ticketing systems
