Are you a database developer who can primarily use Microsoft SQL Server integrated with Microsoft Office applications? Are you able to create reports and tools to serve the needs of the wider business so that data can be easily imported? Do you have good understanding of database administration, normalisation, optimisation and data management using SSIS packages?

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with self-motivation, high standards of work and effective communication skills to deliver quality data solutions to a wide variety of challenges

Key responsibilities and duties - daily tasks will include but not be limited to:

Database development and administration

  • Maintain and develop existing databases used for the storage and analysis of product data
  • Create new database solutions for tasks such as logging enquiries and maintaining product information
  • Create effective user interfaces via MS Access to enable other departments to run their own processes and reports
  • Liaise with other departments to produce accessible user-friendly solutions to their data requirements
  • Devise complete procedures via MS Office and Microsoft SQL Server to allow data transfer, validation and reporting
  • Proactively identify and resolve errors within the databases, and implement measures for data integrity
  • Take relevant action to reduce performance issues and improve database design
  • Consolidate and migrate existing data structures and SSIS packages
  • Create and maintain scheduled jobs through Windows Task Scheduler and the SQL Server Agent

Catalogue Production and Analysis

  • Combine data from multiple sources across formats to improve and expand product catalogue information
  • Create specific output formats for various platforms including websites and third-parties
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in the production of catalogues, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Analyse product data across multiple competitors and compile reports to highlight issues in range

Other result areas

    • Investigate queries from all levels of the business through data manipulation and analysis
    • Assist in projects involving eBusiness, understanding online cataloguing from a data and user-centric perspective
  • Produce ad-hoc reports on specific areas including stock, sales, customer trends and product development
