Infrastructure Manager | Retail, Performance Management, Virtualisation, E-Commerce | 6 Months Initially

My client in North East London is a large retail brand with operations across the globe. For one of their London locations they are currently looking for a new Infrastructure Manager to oversee the resource management and provide a link between the technical team and the Head of Infrastructure and Operations.

Team Management

  • No direct staff line management responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing resources on the delivery of new infrastructure
  • Provide input into the strategic plan for IT Operations and Infrastructure
  • Make recommendations for changes that will be of benefit to the business
  • Ensure availability of Infrastructure group for upgrades, support, or projects
  • Responsible for ensuring supporting documentation is created
  • Vendor and supplier management for cost and quality

Technical Landscape

  • Broad infrastructure background across multiple technologies
  • Detailed knowledge of server, storage, networking, database and datacentre technologies
  • Detailed knowledge of datacentre operations, both in-house and externally operated
  • In depth demonstrable hands on expertise in at least one technical subject
  • Understanding of virtualisation, security operations, e-commerce and related technologies
  • Understanding of telephony, unified communications and end-user compute technologies
  • Awareness of IT infrastructure trends, technology, and regulations that could impact the client

Run the business (BAU)

  • Management of 24x7 incident and problem response for infrastructure in Europe
  • Monitor and review performance against agreed SLAs / SLPs
  • Responsible for root cause and problem management analysis
  • Manage appropriate communication in a timely manner to line management
  • Manage disaster recovery and resilience testing
  • Liaise with other teams as appropriate to ensure a mutual approach to problem solving

Change the business (projects)

  • Responsible for project delivery
  • Ensure the delivery of key infrastructure projects for 2018:
    • Datacentre build
    • Co-location build
    • New office build
    • Disaster Recovery
  • Manage the infrastructure resource for delivery of IT projects
  • Share project plans and status with IT and business units
  • Provide input into the infrastructure strategy, roadmap, policies, and standards
