Unlike Developers, Product Owners, Data Scientists, Infrastructure Consultants and Business Change professionals, we as a Testing community very often ask ourselves - and each other - What is Software Testing?
This is a popular topic at unconferences, TestBashes and Tester Gatherings. I'm not going to pretend I have the answer to this question, because I don't. I'm not sure anyone can answer it explicitly.
You might be tempted to say something along the lines of;
"Software Testing is the process of making sure software works as expected"
If you can spot the problem with that sentence, drop me line.
I'm working with a very well known Global Head of Testing for one of the tech industry's most prestigious and well known organisations. Think Silicon Valley. Think global. Think Testing as a craft - not a script.
If you can intellectualise the risks in Software Testing, if you get bored with basic test scripts and test cases, if you want to push the boundaries of investigative testing as far as possible and push your own limits, let me know. Don't worry if you've not got an up to date CV and don't worry if you're just a tiny bit curious but don't want to be pushed into anything, I'm not a pushy recruiter and I respect people's choices if you'd rather stay where you are. It's all good.
