James proactively contacted me on LinkedIn, as did many other head hunters/exec search agents. I wasn't looking for a new role, in fact I had an offer in hand from a direct approach, never used an agency before & worked for Intel for 23 years, so why did I reply to James vs the many others that I ignored? I had looked a few up that had pinged me and the roles they had were junior or too broad in nature and to me this looked like the shotgun approach or someone who hadn't read my Linked In job history. James did something no one else had, he sent me a job description that was similar to my current role & the new offer and piqued my interest. I replied by mail, we spoke the next day and within a few days had my first phone interview with IBM. James clearly had a close relationship with the guy. As it happened the IBMer decided the job wouldn't stretch me enough (the title was more grand than the actual). Within days James had connected me to a US VP and subsequently, despite a mass reorg I had an interview for a great IoT role in Europe with the new GM. The role is within the Senior Leadership Team. As this was a Partner level appointment there was lots of internal sign offs and checks. James kept driving this with them, making sure I was completely up to date, using text, mail and phone whatever was apt for my movements and availability. This level of relationship with IBM and customer centric approach to both the company and me as the applicant has helped me be relaxed during the whole process and I would highly recommend him to others in the tech industry. I start next Monday!
